General Terms and Conditions – Rent a Scooter Bollenstreek

Conditions & Deposit

To rent a scooter from Rent a Scooter Bollenstreek, you must meet the following conditions:

    1. You are at least 21 years old.
    2. You have held a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years and can provide proof of this.
    3. You must sign the rental contract before the rental period begins.
    4. A deposit of €150 per scooter must be paid before the rental starts. This amount must be paid in cash or by card.
    5. The renter is liable for any damage (other than normal wear and tear). Any damage may be deducted from the deposit.

Article 1 – Odometer Registration

Both parties accept the odometer reading as recorded at the start of the rental period.

Article 2 – Costs During the Rental Period

All costs associated with using the scooter during the rental period are the renter’s responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to: charging, parking, and tire repairs.

Any towing and transport costs for the scooter and/or driver(s) are at the renter’s expense.

Article 3 – Repairs

Repairs to the scooter without the owner’s permission are at the renter’s expense.

Article 4 – Loss and Damage to Accessories

The renter is responsible for damage to or loss of any provided items, including but not limited to:

    1. Registration certificate
    2. Insurance certificate
    3. Keys
    4. Locks

Article 5 – Insurance & Deductible

The scooters are third-party insured (WA insurance) only, with a maximum deductible of €1,000 per incident.

In the event of damage to third parties caused by the renter, the full deductible is at the renter’s expense.

Other or additional insurance is not included and must be arranged by the renter.

In case of theft, if beyond the renter’s control, the full market value of the stolen scooter must be reimbursed within 48 hours:

    1. Segway S125E: €3,600 including VAT
    2. Piaggio Zip: €1,500 including VAT

Article 6 – Renter’s Liability

    1. The renter is fully responsible for all damage to the scooter during the rental period, regardless of the cause.
    2. The renter indemnifies the rental company from liability for damage to passengers or third parties.
    3. The renter is responsible for all fines, penalties, and administrative costs resulting from traffic violations or other incidents during the rental period.

Article 7 – Damage and Theft

    1. In case of damage or theft, regardless of the cause, the renter must immediately notify the rental company by phone and confirm in writing.
    2. The renter must follow the rental company’s instructions and, if necessary, report the incident to the police.
    3. If damage or theft is not reported, a fine of €50 per scooter may be imposed, excluding any repair costs.
    4. If the scooter is stolen, the renter must reimburse the full market value within 48 hours:
      1. Segway S125E: €3,250 including VAT
      2. Piaggio Zip: €1,750 including VAT

Article 8 – Rental Company’s Liability

The rental company is not liable for any damage, defects, or loss suffered by the renter, driver, or passenger during the rental period.

Article 9 – Rental Period & Late Return

    1. Scooters must be returned at the agreed time and no later than 6:00 PM.
    2. A late return fee of €20 per scooter per half-hour will be charged.

Article 10 – Exceeding Maximum Rental Time

If the scooter is not returned within the agreed rental period, a penalty of €75 per day or €10 per hour after the agreed return time applies.

Article 11 – Termination of Rental by the Owner

    1. The rental company reserves the right to terminate the rental agreement immediately if the renter does not follow the rules or does not use the scooter responsibly.
    2. Termination does not exempt the renter from payment obligations for the elapsed rental period.

Article 12 – Deposit and Damage Settlement

    1. The renter must pay a deposit of €150 per scooter before the rental starts.
    2. The deposit will be refunded upon return of the scooter in the same condition as received.
    3. Any damage will be deducted from the deposit. If the damage exceeds the deposit amount, the remaining balance will be charged to the renter.

Article 13 – Cancellation Policy

The following cancellation fees apply:

  • More than 2 months in advance: 0% of the invoice amount
  • More than 1 month in advance: 35% of the invoice amount
  • More than 14 days in advance: 60% of the invoice amount
  • More than 7 days in advance: 85% of the invoice amount
  • 7 days or less in advance: 100% of the invoice amount

Article 14 – Bad Weather Policy

We understand that weather conditions play a role in renting a scooter.

    1. Only in cases of extreme weather (such as storms or continuous heavy rain) can the booking be rescheduled free of charge to another date within the same year.
    2. This decision will be made 12-24 hours before the rental start time, based on the weather forecast. The renter will be notified via email.
